RELICS
2018
When I was first introduced to this wonderful museum and received an invitation to exhibit here, I immediately wanted to create artwork that spoke ABOUT the museum and its objects. The Slapelis family, who lived here for 50 years were Lithuanian patriots concerned with the preservation and promotion of the Lithuanian language, its books and culture. And so my paintings began to take on book-like forms as they recreated the “relics” found in the Marija and Jurgis Slapelis Museum.
