SIGHT LINES

“Sight Lines” is a series of landscapes sketched from the passenger side of a moving car.

Trying to capture moving images reveals the imperfection of memory. At best, the passing landscape can only be drawn in the broadest terms – where objects become gestural marks. These marks are then used as a framework for paintings that show an interplay of lines, coloured shapes and negative space. At times the lines become almost legible script as we search for words to replace what can no longer be accurately recalled.
